GPIF, the world’s largest pension fund, seeks information on assets such as Bitcoin and plans to diversify its investment portfolio
According to Mars Finance news, the Japanese Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), the world’s largest pension fund, announced that it will seek to obtain information on investment diversification. The information is about illiquid assets in which the GPIF does not invest, including the typical crypto asset Bitcoin, as well as gold, forests and farmland. GPIF currently invests in traditional assets such as domestic and foreign stocks and bonds, as well as alternative assets such as infrastructure and real estate. As of the end of December 2023, its asset management scale was approximately 225 trillion yen (approximately US$1.5 trillion). It should be noted that this announcement is for obtaining information and does not indicate that the company will expand investment targets in the future.
